Welcome to the 1st Annual Valley Artisan Fest (Register Today For Free!)

Saturday, September 10th 4pm-9m at the Chatsworth Metrolink Station

The Valley Artisan Fest was created to introduce the community to an exciting selection of interactive hobby workshops. Each 30' x 30' tent is hosted by a local master/expert in a given field. Those fields include Quilting & Fiber Arts, Visual Arts, Music & Dance, Cooking,  Beer and Wine. Expect hands-on demonstrations from teaching artists from local arts schools and businesses! 

This FREE event is made possible by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs!

Master Artisans Include:

Lizz Leral - (Quilting & Fiber Arts Tent)

Lizz Leral is the Executive Director of Quilting for Community, a San Fernando Valley-based non-profit organization dedicated to building community by teaching the art of quilting.  Quilting for Community’s goal is to teach the community-at-large that quilting is a means of healing & artistic expression. Class-made quilts are donated to hospice, shelters, and hospitals across Southern California.  Basic quilting classes are FREE to the public.

In this tent you will learn basic techniques about quilting and other forms of fiber arts such as using sewing machines and croache. 

Hector Perez-Roman - (Music and Dance Tent)

Hector Perez-Roman is the host and executive producer of Valley Views SFV on KROJ 101.5FM. Valley Views SFV’s mission aims to uplift stories of brilliant people, organizations, businesses, artists, and social movements that have a positive impact on the San Fernando Valley and beyond through deep and fun discussions at the intersection of politics, economics, culture, art, and music.

In this tent you will learn basic dancing lessons, how to DJ and other interactive musical workshops. 

Phil Leonard - (Visual Arts Tent)

Phil Leonard is the founder of Writing on the Walls, LLC which provides Murals in the San Fernando Valley. The goal is continuing the ancient traditions of depicting history, those who have impacted it, and beauty in our daily lives with walls as our canvases. Murals, and other Visual Arts can have a valuable role helping with the mental and emotional health of communities, families and our Self.

In this tent you will interact with local muralists, photographers and other visual art demonstrations. 

Academy of Culinary Education (Cooking Tent) 

The Academy of Culinary Education (“ACE”) offers an extraordinary culinary learning experience in an intimate stimulating environment. With seasoned chef and gifted educator Cecilia De Castro at the helm, along with her distinguished instructors in the industry, ACE attracts students who (1) wish to pursue a career in the food industry, (2) seek a career change, (3) currently work in the industry and strive for advancement through formal culinary training and (4) are “foodies” who live to eat, not eat to live. In this tent you will learn basic cooking and baking techniques at different stations by trained culinary students. 

Brews with Masters - (Beer and Wine Tent)

Derek and Jonathan are craft beer aficionados who call the San Fernando Valley home. Featuring brewers, tap rooms and tasting rooms throughout the southland, the dynamic duo create in-depth profiles of local breweries for the "Brews With Masters" YouTube channel.

In this tent you will be able to talk with some of the local brew-masters and wine makers on pairing drinks with food. You will also be able to purchase alcohol for tastings.

FAQs

What is the cost to register?

Nothing! The event is FREE but we recommend registering in advance by clicking the ticket button. 

Should I 
register in advance? (Free) 

It is strongly recommended to register to receive updated event information and other exclusive offerings.

Are the facilities clean and is it safe?

You bet! We go to great lengths to ensure the venue and restrooms are clean throughout the night. We hire a team dedicated to keeping the area spotless, and restrooms fresh and clean. We work with local police station and have plenty of staff on hand to ensure you enjoy the movie without any interruptions. 

What COVID-19 precautions are you taking?

This is an outdoor event and masks are not required. However, we ask that you please respect those who wish to wear a mask and social distance. We reserve the right to update these policies at anytime based on state or local health guidance or mandates. We will notify you about new protocols, if necessary, in a final email that you will receive closer to the screening.

Will there be food and drinks for purchase?

Yes. We will have a few food options available along with a Beer and Wine Tent. 

Are kids welcomed?

Yes. This is a family friendly event and we encourage kids to explore the different tents and get inspired. 

What time should I get there?

The event officially starts at 4pm and ends at 9pm. We recommend arriving early to take your time in visiting each of the tents and meet local master/experts in the different fields. 

Do I need to bring a printed ticket with me?

No....we can scan the digital ticket on your mobile device.

Can I register at the gate?

Yes but it will save you time to register ahead of time (Free Registration)

Can I bring my pet?

Yes but all pets must remain on a leash and owners must pick up after them. 

Where do I park?

You will receive detailed parking instructions prior to the event via email. 

What happens if it rains?

If we are experiencing inclement weather on the day of the event, please check the Quilting for Community website (quiltingforcommunity.org) for the most recent, up-to-date status. You can also check your email periodically. We will send you a notification if there is the need to reschedule the event.

transferable?
